The American conservative magazine The American said it would cover a video by a man dressed as a boy in a hair suit, who has created a buzz on Twitter.
“In case you were wondering, Anime Boy Hairs is a real-life YouTube phenomenon,” the article said.
“The video above is a teaser for the next anime feature in the series.”
The video was uploaded to the YouTube channel Anime Boy Shirts.
The video’s description reads: “It’s not a very real thing, but a man wearing a hair shirt with a hair tie on.
It’s a parody of the real-world trend of wearing fake boyish clothing in order to trick kids into thinking you’re a girl.”
“We love it,” the man wrote in the comments section.
“It has got everything anime fans love: cute, funny, cute, cute and cute,” another commenter said.
The man has since deleted the video, and the channel is no longer accessible.
“We’re not gonna give in to the hype and just make a bunch of fan videos with it,” he said.
He has not responded to the magazine’s request for comment.
